Marbles is accounting software for Australian businesses. Manage your banking, invoices, bills, expenses and financial reporting in one place, with AI handling much of the routine accounting work.
This Help Centre explains how to set up Marbles and use its features. New to Marbles? Start with the Getting started guide, or follow the Xero migration guide if you are moving from Xero.
Everything in Marbles works from the same accounting records, so your accounts and reports stay up to date as transactions are recorded.

Get your business ready to use Marbles in a few steps.
The first time you open a new organisation, Marbles asks you to confirm its details under Set up your organisation.
Select Finish setup to begin. Until an administrator completes this step, other users see a message that the organisation is still being set up. All of these details can be changed later under Settings.
Moving from Xero? Marbles can help you bring your existing accounting records across, so that you can pick up where you left off. The Xero migration guide explains what to prepare, what comes across and what to check afterwards.
One Marbles account can belong to several organisations. When you sign in, select the organisation to open under Choose an organisation, or select Create a new organisation. To move between organisations while signed in, select the organisation name at the foot of the main menu and choose another.
Your own name, job title and contact details are maintained under Settings > Account.
Administrators can invite and manage users under Settings > Users. Select Invite user, enter the person's email address and name, and choose their roles. The person receives an email with a temporary password. Until they sign in, they are listed as Invited, and the invitation can be sent again from their user page. Select a user to change their roles or to remove them from the organisation.
| Role | Access |
|---|---|
| Reader | View-only access. A Reader can view transactions, documents, contacts and reports, connect Claude and contact support. |
| Advisor | Accounting access. An Advisor can also create and approve documents, reconcile bank transactions, link bank accounts, and manage bank rules, journals, fixed assets and activity statements. |
| Administrator | Full access. An Administrator can also invite and remove users, change organisation settings and manage the subscription. |
Each module page ends with the permissions that apply to that module. Your accountant or bookkeeper is normally invited as an Advisor.
The dashboard gives you an overview of your business and the work that needs your attention.
Marbles brings together Australian payroll and accounting, powered by one of Australia's leading payroll providers.
See Payroll for setup instructions and managing your pay runs. This functionality is being enabled progressively on Marbles accounts from early October 2026.
Contacts holds your customers and suppliers. The list has tabs for All contacts, Suppliers, Customers and Archived, and shows what you owe each contact and what each contact owes you.
Select New contact to record the contact name, an optional account number, the primary person and additional people, phone numbers, addresses, the ABN, and the bank details used when paying the contact. A contact can also be created directly from the Contact field on a bill, an invoice or a bank reconciliation line.
Each contact's page has tabs for Activity, Details, Financial and Files. Archive a contact you no longer deal with. Archived contacts are hidden from the list but kept for your records, and can be restored.
Settings has four tabs: General settings, Subscription (administrators only), Account and Notifications. The general settings include the following.
| Setting | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Organisation details | Name, logo, ABN, contact details and addresses. |
| Users | Invite users, change roles and remove users. |
| Products and services | Items you buy or sell, used to fill in lines on invoices, quotes and bills. |
| Reporting preferences | Default display options for reports, for all users. |
| Financial settings | Financial year end, tax defaults, lock date and time zone. |
| Fixed asset settings | Asset types and the accounts used for disposals. |
| Conversion balances | Opening balances brought in from another system. |
| Tax rates | The tax rates and the accounts that use each one. |
| Activity Statement settings | GST accounting method, calculation period and BAS reporting method. |
Under Subscription, an administrator can choose or change the plan, view the payment method and invoices, and cancel the subscription. After cancelling, access continues until the end of the current billing period. Under Notifications, choose which events send an email notification, such as an invoice becoming overdue or a bill falling due. Notifications are sent to every user in the organisation. A setting shown greyed out is not yet available.
Customer data is hosted in Australia, on AWS infrastructure in Sydney, and Marbles is ISO 27001 certified. Bank connections are made through the Consumer Data Right and are read-only: Marbles can see the accounts and transactions you authorise and cannot move money through them. For more information, see Security at Marbles and the Privacy Policy.
Select Support at the top of any page in Marbles, describe the problem under How can we help? and select Submit. We usually respond within 24 hours by email. Include the organisation name, the page you were on and, where relevant, the transaction or document number, so that we can find the record quickly.
